Andy McCarthy says that Palin is weakest when "shackled to McCain."
I'd tend to agree. I remember seeing several places where I got the impression that she was defending a position because she knew that's what John McCain believed, not because she had any faith in the position herself. As McCarthy notes, Palin would be much better if she didn't have to defend McCain's tendency to go off the reservation.
