We just had to replace our CD burner and ended up getting a DVD burner. We have a program to burn DVDs, but don't have anything to convert video files to the correct format for DVD playback. Does anyone have any suggestions.

There are some products like Ahead's Nero, Pinnacle Studio, etc that are quite good at this. I think you can get Nero for about $99. I'll look around to see if there are some decent shareware or freeware utilities.

I found a site listing some freeware tools: http://www.softlandmark.com/dvd-authoring-software.html
I have not tried any of these yet so I can't vouch for them.

Saw your post while perusing Sarah's blog at Mountaineer Musings.
I'm really partial to VirtualDubMod since it allows you to open files across many platforms and encode them as .mpg files enabling you to burn your videos onto DVDs.
By chance, which application came with the burner?
