There's an ad I've seen a few times. What it's for doesn't matter, but something about it struck me wrong. They identify their spokesman by displaying his name on the screen followed by the phrase "trusted former news anchor."
It seems to me that if you have to tell your audience both who your spokesman is and that he is to be trusted, that you might, just maybe, have made a bad choice.
Just saying.
Perhaps they meant "formerly trusted news anchor"?
