Arafat's been talking again:
Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat urged Europeans to expend extra effort so that the Middle East "Road Map" peace plan could become a reality. In a statement to the German magazine Stern, Arafat said: "The Europeans must make extra effort in order for the Middle East peace plan to be applied. Europe presently has a great responsibility to realize the plan. This is an important opportunity for the European Union (EU). The efforts undertaken within the next six months are especially important."
Why exactly is it that Europe (or anyone else) has such a "great responsibility" to bring peace to the middle east? It seems to me that if what Arafat really wanted was peace he could, I don'g know, stop Palestinians from blowing up pizza parlors and bat mitzvahs. That'd be a start.
