Leaders of the Nine-Eleven commission say their differences with the White House over al-Qaida's relationship with Saddam Hussein isn't a major point of contention. The Bush administration used Saddam's alleged link with terrorists as a justification to go to war. A commission staff report says there were contacts between al-Qaida and Iraq, but they didn't produce a collaborative relationship. Vice President Cheney has said Iraq did respond to some of Osama bin Laden's requests for Assistance.
With so many in the press trying to say that the Commission's report is a sharp refutation of administration claims, it's nice to see some outlets actually report that the Commission itself says that their report is no such thing.
