Eugene Volokh wonders why some people are more comfortable with friends of the opposite sex than others and whether that trait correlates with anything else. That's interested me for a long time as well. I find that I'm most comfortable doing things with my male friends, but I'm most comfortable talking with my female friends. I have no idea why that might be though.
