Those of us in the blogosphere (even a lot of non-political or only marginal political bloggers) tend to get so engrossed in the political scene that we tend to forget that most of America doesn't operate this way.
Today I went and picked up my sister. We hit the road and just drove around for a few hours. At some point I mentioned something John Kerry and she said, "Who?"
Me, "John Kerry."
Her, "I have no idea who that is?"
Me, "He's running for president. He's the Democratic candidate."
Her, "Never heard of him."
Now, keep in mind my sister is a pretty smart person and has a college education, yet she had no idea who John Kerry is. I'm betting she's not the only one.
Why do I bring this up?
Just to remind us that most Americans won't turn their minds to the election for quite some time yet. The stuff that happens now is important, but it's not yet that important.
wow, even *I* know who Kerry is; he's that guy that served in Vietnam, right?
