I've seen this several places, so when I saw Jack Rich doing it, I figured I might as well too:
1. Grab the nearest book. 2. Open the book to page 23. 3. Find the fifth sentence. 4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
As it happens, the nearest book to me at the moment is the Jewish Publication Society's The Jewish Study Bible. Page 23 is in the middle of Genesis 7. The fifth full sentence is verse 12:
The rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.
The nearest nonreligious text is Star Wars, The New Jedi Order: The Unifying Force. Page 23, sentence 5 reads:
C-3PO summoned as much indignation as his protocol programming allowed.
I'm assuming the manual for my new wireless router doesn't count as a book.
Hmm. I'm going to start assuming you're a geek if you're not careful... btw, i love your C-3PO sentence.
