For the last few days ...

... Type Pad has been randomly putting stuff in bold. Sometimes my blogroll is in bold; sometimes it's not. Sometimes blockquotes are in bold; sometimes they're not.

I've been searching high and low for an open blockquote tag somewhere, but I can't find it. Any advice would be appreciated.

You've looked for an open blockquote, have you looked for an open bold?
