While he hasn't said for sure, South Dakota Mike Rounds is hinting that he would likely sign a bill currently in the SD House that would ban abortion.
Gov. Mike Rounds won't comment yet on a bill to ban nearly all abortions in South Dakota, but he said abortion should end."I am pro-life. I believe that abortion is wrong," Rounds said Friday. "I believe we should do everything we can to eliminate abortion within this country."
Rounds said he could accept abortion in cases when it is necessary to save a pregnant woman's life.
"You do everything you can to preserve and protect life. In some cases if you have the possibility of losing the life of the mother, you do what you can to protect the life of the mother," the governor said.
This is a good development.
Unfortunately, this story isn't getting much press at all. A state legislature is taking action on of the most important, and controversial, issues of our time and for some reason the press has pretty much ignored. I think Joe Carter deserves a lot of credit for refusing to let this story stay buried.
