Gotta stop this
It's truly mind-boggling, but not only does Arlen Specter seem poised to chair the Senate Judiciary Committee, but he's already hinting he might block conservative judges. This is the thanks Bush gets for endorsing Specter. Look up your Senators' phone numbers and let them know how you feel about it.
We need to nip this in the bud.

Jeff, my Senators don't listen to me (Sens. Lautenburg & Corzine), can I use yours?
Seriously, though, I agree, and I emailed and called Senator Frist today.

From what I've seen, he just seemed to be reflecting political reality. With the court split the way it is, Bush just will be unlikely to sneak an anti-Roe justice onto the bench. This whole fracas looks like a tempest in a teapot. Or am I missing something?

Specter has a long history of obstructing conservative causes. That and he has no problem making a mess of any issue just to get himself a little attention. Personally, I think it's idiotic to give him any leadership position at all.
And if Specter just wanted to give Bush advice, he'd do it privately, not 2nd hand through the media. This was a warning, not a helpful hint.
